Brevard County, Florida Contracts with Tiburon, Inc. for a $1.0 Million Computer Aided Dispatch System

ANNAPOLIS, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 13, 2007--CompuDyne Corporation (NASDAQ:CDCY), an industry leader in sophisticated security products, integration and technology for the public security markets, announced today that the County of Brevard, Florida has signed a $1.0 million contract with CompuDyne's Public Safety and Justice unit, Tiburon, Inc., to provide a Computer Aided Dispatch ("CAD") system for the Sheriff's Office. Tiburon is an industry-leading provider of automated public safety and justice systems which meet the demanding and complex needs of law enforcement, fire & rescue, corrections and justice environments.

The new CAD system will allow the Sheriff's call-takers and dispatchers to respond to, manage, and track emergency calls more efficiently. Being located in an area prone to hurricane activity, Brevard County wanted to provide a remote backup capability for their dispatch operations. By networking the Sheriff's new CAD system with the CAD system currently being implemented by Tiburon for Brevard County Fire Rescue, in the event either communication center becomes inoperable, this disaster tolerant configuration will allow the other communication center to take over and resume full operation with accurate, up-to-the-minute information. "The ability to have backup capability was a critical factor in selecting Tiburon and is extremely important in providing optimum service during a disaster situation," said Mike Brickner, Communications Manager, Brevard County Sheriff's Office.

The CAD system operates on fully distributed Microsoft Windows(R) workstations and provides server-independent processing of all critical CAD functions for a reliable configuration approaching 100% system availability.

Part of Tiburon's total solution for Brevard County is a comprehensive mobile communications component that includes mobile mapping and automatic vehicle location for all units. When a call for service is dispatched from the communications center to a mobile unit, an icon appears on the mobile map highlighting the location of the incident, surrounding incidents and units in the area. Units also receive pertinent and timely details about the call. Devices installed in the vehicles track the exact location of the vehicle and assist in determining the shortest route to the incident.

Tiburon has successfully deployed this unique system architecture in several city, county, and statewide public safety communication centers across the country.
